Buying health insurance can confuse and frustrate the best of us. Benefits, premiums, who’s covered for what, when and where – the devil’s in the details, they say. And that’s where Riverview Regional steps in to help you – with the details.
Riverview Regional provides you with health insurance enrollment assistance in Carthage, Tennessee. Our Certified Application Counselors are available for phone appointments, or you can come in for a personal appointment Monday through Saturday. We’ll walk you through the maze of enrolling, re-enrolling or making changes to your coverage on the Health Insurance Marketplace. We’ll help you make sense of the law and what it means for you.
The Affordable Care Act affects everyone. The law regulates the health care industry. It offers various plans for coverage with different benefits at different rates, but all the plans cover these:
- Primary care for adults, and pediatrician visits for children
- Dependents up to the age of 26
- Prescription medications
- Preventive care and screenings
- Emergency Room and Urgent Care visits
- Treatment for pre-existing medical conditions
Your rates will be affected by where you live, your age, if you use tobacco and the number of family members needing coverage. Only children receive dental and vision coverage under the law. For adults over the age of 19 in your family, dental and vision coverage will come with an extra policy and premium.
Tennessee has over six million residents, and 15% of those are uninsured. Under the health care law, you and your family may be eligible for help with paying for your coverage in the form of a tax subsidy. The law also demands that you pay a penalty through your federal income tax if you don’t have health insurance or an exemption – and the penalty increases each year.
Open enrollment on the Health Insurance Marketplace is November 15, 2014 through February 15, 2015. You must enroll by December 15, 2014 to avoid a lapse in your coverage come New Year. All Marketplace coverage ends December 31, 2014, regardless of when you enrolled. New coverage begins with January 1, 2015, provided that you enrolled by the December 15, 2014 deadline.
